How to Open Your Own College Savings Account and Complete Building Block #2

NYC Kids RISE offers two savings account options: an Amalgamated Save for College Bank Account or an NY 529 Direct Plan Account. There are no initial or ongoing requirements for how often or how much you save. To open either account, you and your child will need a Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). Earn $25 in rewards by opening your own college savings account today.

• Log back on to Savings Tracker and then click on Create/Connect 529 Account.
• You will be taken to nysaves.org where you can open your own NY 529 Direct Plan Account. When you complete the application, you will be prompted to link your 529 account to your child’s NYC Scholarship Account so that you can view your balance on Savings Tracker.
• If you already have a NY 529 Direct Plan Account, you can log back in and go directly to linking it to Savings Tracker to complete Building Block #2.
