Dear Parents and Families in the Save for College Community,

• Raising $1,000 for each child with an NYC Scholarship Account – Community Scholarship Campaign

• Supporting Friends & Neighbors to Complete the Save for College Program Building Blocks

• Our icebreaker this week focused on mentors who have guided us in our lives. We also talked about our goals for attending these organizing meetings, and what we’d like to achieve in our time together.

• We provided updates on the Astoria Houses Tenants Organization’s Community Scholarship Campaign and families’ progress towards completing the Building Blocks for their children – see below for details.

• The main focus of our conversation was on how we can reach out to the Astoria Houses families who haven’t yet activated their children’s NYC Scholarship Accounts. We talked about how the Save for College Program is one of many resources available to support families in the Astoria Houses community, and how it provides a structure for families to network with one another as we all save for college together.

• Help us plan the Community Scholarship announcement on Tuesday, October 6! We are close to reaching our goal and announcing the $1,000 Community Scholarship.
